England 2004
This summer we travelled to England
for two weeks. The first week was spent at Knowle
Manor, where we met up with 30 other travellers from Fieldstone
Riding Club for 5 days of hacking through the countryside and jumping
cross country fences.
We then spent a few days at Thornbury
Castle (only middling old, built during Henry VIII's time). To go
look at a somewhat older castle, we drove to Wales for the day to
see Caerphilly Castle. We also drove
back to Somerset to the Cheddar Gorge,
where the eponymous cheese comes from.
We then drove to see some of Sally's relatives in Guildford, Surrey
and stopped to see the Uffington White
Horse, a prehistoric monument. While staying in Guildford, we
drove up to see Windsor Castle At the
end of our trip we stayed at a nice hotel in London
and did a bit of sightseeing. Finally, we returned home
(on the flight of eternal lunchtime)
